REVIEW: Ozeri WeightMaster Scale

This WeightMaster is a neat scale.  I got it in the black and I love it.  I like to call it a Smart Scale because it keeps track of your weight.  It has a large LED screen that is gives color coded alerts that allow you to ascertain whether you lost or gained weight.  The LED light changes green if you have lost weight or red if you have gained.  I like these colors, as I see green as affirmation to keep doing what I’m doing.  I see red as a sign to take caution.

The scale measures up to 440 pounds, which is generous in comparison to other scales.  My old only goes up to 350 pounds.    The scale has the ability to keep track of up to eight people.  Setup is pretty simple as well.  Upon opening the box, you only need to pull the tab from the battery compartment.  If you choose, you can enter statistics for each person that will be using this scale.  If everyone is in a different weight range, the scale is able to determine who is standing on the scale, which is neat.  Otherwise, you do have the option to choose the person.

I think this scale is great for people who are on a weight loss regimen.  It is also helpful when you are looking to gain weight for health reasons.  My purpose is to lose.  I love to see the scale light up green when I step on it to let me know that I’m still doing well.  I do recommend it to anyone who is on a weight management program.  I like the design of this scale as well. It is slim with a decorative glass insert.  IT’s cool to see the floor through the scale.  I received this scale to test and I have had it for a few days.  So far, I have no complaints.

REVIEW: Custom VarieTea Yogi Tea Bags Assortment Includes Mints (40 Count)

Tea has been instrumental in my weight loss.   There are so many health benefits to drinking tea.  In addition, tea is a great way to help curb cravings.   A nice tea with a  couple of drops of stevia is as good as having dessert.

Yogi is one of my favorite brands of bagged tea.  This is such a wonderful collection of tea.  I received 40 unique bags of Yogi Tea.  No two tea bags were the same.  I received some of my favorite Yogi Tea bags along with some new ones to try.  Each tea bag arrived wrapped individually and clearly labeled.

You could smell the wonderful tea as soon as you opened the box. I was excited to rip into my first bag.  I tried the Green Tea Energy.  It was awesome.  It had a full flavor and the tea gave me a gentle jolt of energy to get through the reminder of my day.

This set makes an awesome gift.  Any tea lover would appreciate receiving this package.  I know I do.   It is also great to have in y our office to share with coworkers.

REVIEW: Running Belt for iPhone 6 / 6 Plus & Android Smartphones + Touchscreen Compatible

This is my favorite running belt yet! I am so ecstatic that this running belt has a clear window so I can see my phone screen. Not only can I see my phone screen, but this screen allows me to touch and operate the screen. YES! In addition, there is room on the inside for my keys or my ID. It is spacious, but also slim. The belt is adjustable. I find it comfortable to wear. It is also padded, so you don’t have to worry about your cell phone becoming wet from sweat and short-circuiting. I’m excited!

I received a discount on this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

A timely message when there are cakes in the staff meeting

My job is big on celebrating birthdays! If there are 3 birthdays in the month, we have three cakes! If it is someone's anniversary, there is another cake! There are always pastries in the kitchen. We are overloaded with sugar and carbs! Right before going into the staff meeting today, I decided to do my Skinny School lesson on lunch. This message was timely! Here is my summary: We all mess up! That is simply human nature. Some mess up/fall off more than others. Your success is determined by the way tog handle those slip ups. The result of large slips is usually utter discouragement. So as soon as you slip with your eating and exercising, don't wait. Get back on track immediately! The emotional suffering that comes with being overweight is much harder than the temporary discomfort associated with working toward your health and fitness goals. Imagine how you will feel when you can feel comfortable in anything you wear. Imagine the freedom associated with not having to think about your weight all day long? Some may call you obsessed with your goals. What some see as obsession is simply discipline. People who criticize your discipline are trying to find comfort in their own laziness. Pray that they see the light like you have. There were 2 cakes!!!! No cake for me today. I am learning self-mastery. Sorry if it bothers you that while you're having seconds, I'm sipping tea.

Why hasn't the scale moved?

Here I was, panicking!  It is almost the middle of the month, and I haven't lost gotten rid of one pound this month!  I couldn't believe it!  Then it hit me.  Almost every night, I have awakened and eaten a handful (or two) of  dry roasted peanuts!  Of course, I wasn't tracking this midnight eating. That means that every single day, I was going over on my calories as well as my carbs.

I did some research and found that eating in the Middle of the night is called Nocturnal Eating Disorder .  If you find yourself doing this, it is important to do a check-in to make sure you are emotionally and physically healthy.  I know for sure my Nocturnal Eating is the result of stress and not taking time out for myself.  That changes today.  It is counter-productive to sabotage all of my hard work.

It is  important to track every single thing that is going into your body.  If  you are serious about getting healthy, you will need to have real goals that you follow.  For me, I try to stay within 50 grams of carbs and 15-25 grams of sugar per day.  I do not know the carb and sugar count of everything I eat, and I definitely won't remember everything that I ate for the day.  I MUST track my foods religiously.  If not, I will be going over my goals.  Not only can I stall my weight loss, but I can gain as well.

*Note:  With Nocturnal Eating Disorder, you are fully aware that you are awake and eating.  .  There is a similar eating disorder called Sleep-Related Eating Disorder.  Whit this particular disorder, you are not actually aware that you are eating in the middle of the night.

Signs to watch for with both disorders are:
  • Lack or appetite in the morning
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • Noticing that things are different in  your kitchen (food missing, dishes out, etc.)

With signs of either disorder, you will want to consult your doctor.  These signs can be warning of a more serious underlying health disorder.

I have had a full check-up and everything is perfectly fine.

REVIEW:

Skinny School: Where Women Learn the Secrets to Finally Get Thin Forever (Genie Series Book 2) [Kindle Edition]

I found Julie Gordon’s book, Skinny School, by accident.  I was actually searching for some tips on diet and on being a good wife when her page was recommended.  I went to her website and saw that not only does she have the book, but she offers a program to go along with the book.  That was enough to make me want to get the book.  I ordered the book, then I signed up for the Skinny School Online, which was starting up the following week.

The one thing that I appreciate about this book is that it is in actual story formation.  It is not your typical how-to book with information thrown at you that you may or may not catch.  The main character faces all of the struggles that we face in life and learns to deal with temptation, setbacks, and emotions in an effective way.  I was drawn into the book from beginning to end.

This book is interactive as well.  There are lessons that the main character has to do.  To get the most out of this book, it will be helpful to do the exercises with her.

There are so many diets out there that are temporary or simply do not work.  Julie helps you to get a hold on what your issues really are and helps you to deal with them.  She encourages you to spend time on your journey without feeling guilty about the amount of energy that you put into it because it IS a real, important life goal.

You will not be disappointment by this book.  It is a story that has humor and love.  There were some times where I wanted to shake the main character because things were so clear, but her self-esteem was so low that she could not see things that were obviously in front of her face.  That is how wrapped up I was in this book!

I purchased this book in Kindle Form.  After reading this book, I was so upset that I did not purchase the physical book.  There is so much life-changing information that you really want to mark it up with highlights and taking notes.  I will be ordering the physical book and I will reread it and be more interactive this time around.  Meanwhile, I started Skinny School just three weeks ago, and as of today, I am in the 10 pound club!

REVIEW: Etekcity Etekfit Digital Bathroom Bluetooth Body Fat Weight Scale, 1-Year Warranty, FCC/CE/ROHS Approved, Measures Weight, Body Fat, Water Percentage, Bone Mass, Muscle Mass, BMI, BMR, Visceral Fat (11lb-400lb, Android/iOS App Tracking) (Health and Beauty)

I received this scale in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. The reason I wanted this scale is because I am working toward my fitness goals. I have been reading a book that encourages you to weigh yourself daily in order to be accountable. I needed a reliable scale to do so.

The first thing I noticed about this scale is that it takes AA batteries which were included. I appreciate that! A lot of other scales take those flat batteries. AA is way easier to find. I really appreciate this company keeping things simple for me. This scale is also very attractive. I love the design.

I have had many other scales that were supposed to have the “step on” technology. None of t hem ever worked like that. My old scale, I actually had to pick it up and slam it down on the floor in order for it to come on. This scale by Etekcity actually comes on as soon as I step on it.
They have an app that the scale connects with via Bluetooth. The app tracks your weight and your body fat. The BMI is accurate, but I’m not so sure about the water and body fat analysis. It shows you your progress. You must be barefoot for the water and the fat to be calculated. I paired it with my Galaxy S6 with no problems.

The scale has been consistent for me. I move it to several reliable places around the house when I weigh just to make sure it is accurate. I say reliable places because I know that my floor can be unleveled in some places and show a lighter weight. I take it to the places that I know are level.

The LCD screen has a large display. It is very simple to read the numbers. That is appreciated. My toddler is learning numbers and likes to look at the lit numbers as well. He also likes to stand on the scale when I’m not looking. Since it is so responsive, it is harder to keep him away from it.

I love this scale. I am extremely impressed by its features, accurateness, and its sleek design. I recommend this scale to anyone who is looking to be accountable in their weight loss journey
